Driven by a deep compassion for children in South Sudan, Cecilia Achuka established Achuka for Orphans to provide a sanctuary of stability and hope. Her life’s work is dedicated to ensuring that every orphan has access to life-changing education and the emotional support needed to thrive. Here, every child is loved, seen, and supported. This journey is committed to serving the children of the world, beginning in South Sudan and branching out to other nations as resources become available.
A Journey of Compassion
My name is Cecilia Achuka, and I am the founder of Achuka for Orphans. Originally from South Sudan, I came to the United States through a program called “The Lost Girls of Sudan.” My journey to founding this organization was driven by deep compassion for neglected children from marginalized backgrounds, and I am dedicated to creating a community of inclusion where every child feels they belong.
When I was only six years old, I lived in refugee camps and orphanages to escape the two-decade civil war in my country. I truly understand the struggle and hardship orphaned children endure when their parents are lost to conflict. These years of displacement gave me a unique perspective on the resilience of children and the necessity of stable, loving support.
I was lucky to be sponsored and welcomed in Boulder, Colorado, by a community of compassionate and humanitarian people who changed my life. Today, I want to extend that same gratitude by helping the forgotten children of the world. Through Achuka for Orphans, I am dedicated to ensuring that no child is left behind, letting them know they are loved, seen, and supported.
